Whitworth Theatre Presents....

Whitworth Theatre Presents....

Set in the witty and stylish world of the 1920s, Hay Fever is one of Noel Coward's most deliciously funny comedies.

A semi-retired actress mother, a novelist father, and two budding-artist children make up the eccentric Bliss family, for whom all the world is, literally, a stage.  Their outrageous antics alternately infuriate and astround their hapless weekend guests, each of whom has been invited to the country house for a weekend.  Rousing fights, surprise engagements and fevered declarations of love are all just part of the fun at the Bliss household - you won't want to miss one moment of this intoxicating weekend romp.

Showing Oct. 14, 15, 21,and 22 at 8pm and Oct. 16 at 2pm in the Cowles Auditorium, Whitworth University.

Help Raise The Wall In Deer Park

Help Raise The Wall In Deer Park

Habitat for Humanity is entering the next phase for their Deer Park homes. This Thursday they're raising the walls for their Hope Meadows set of homes.

The Spokane-affiliated non-profit says this will provide housing for 114 low-income families over the next few years in Deer Park. They've already built 209 homes through out Spokane County.

The purchased land spans nearly 20-acres that will feature various designs of homes to accommodate families in and single and two story twin homes.

The public is invited to the first pound of nails at the location starting at 10:30 a.m. The future homeowners and Habitat for Humanity board of directions will be onsite to celebrate. Continental breakfast will be provided.

Chauncy Welliver Working His Way Towards Heavy Weight Title Shot

Chauncy Welliver Working His Way Towards Heavy Weight Title Shot

Chauncy Welliver grew up in the Hillyard neighborhood in Spokane. His life has taken its twists and turns but one thing that's always kept him on the right track is boxing. I had a conversation with Welliver who opened up about his early years in boxing and his dreams for the future.

Tell me what titles you currently hold?

WBC Continental Americas, WBC Asian, WBO Asia Pacific, WBO China Zone, and New Zealand National.

Which one are you most proud of?

Each title represents major accomplishments I worked very hard to achieve, though the most interesting is the New Zealand title. Though it has no world affiliation, it dates back to 1884, so to be apart of such history is big for me, as I consider myself a bit of a historian.

High school fundraiser fined for not having proper permit

High school fundraiser fined for not having proper permit

Those friendly neighborhood barbecue fundraisers aren’t as friendly as you may think. When burgers are involved, Spokane Regional Health District calls it a high-risk in regards to food safety. To resolve that issue, all you need is a “temporary food establishment” permit for $480. That’s something Riverside High School’s annual homecoming tailgater-- didn’t have.

SpokAnimal CARE Needs Cat Litter Donations

SpokAnimal CARE Needs Cat Litter Donations

For the first time in more than a decade, SpokAnimal says they have run out of non-clumping cat litter.

SpokAnimal uses non-clumping litter because the litter boxes are completely changed out every day due to the risk of disease.  Staff and volunteers have been forced to use shredded paper and clumping litter as a temporary substitute.

SpokAnimal CARE Director Gail Mackie says it has been an extremely busy season with hundreds of cats and kittens coming into the shelter.

The shelter's cat room uses about 10 pounds of litter every day.

SpokAnimal accepts donations at the humane society Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

13th Annual Hope House Fashion Show

I wonder if I'm going to be able to include model on my resume under job experience, now that I'm in my second year of modeling for the Hope House Fashion Show. Okay, maybe not. But, I really am feeling cool and confident about this year's event since I have last year under my belt.

October 28th marks the 13th Annual Hope House Fashion Show. It's a fun filled event with wine tasting from 11 to noon. After that, it's time for the fashion show and lunch.
