Police Say Dog Blamed For Wreck

Police Say Dog Blamed For Wreck

Spokane Police say a driver blamed his dog for distracting him and causing a wreck at Howard and Maxwell this morning.   The man was headed eastbound on Maxwell when he ran a red light and was t-boned by a Spokane City Water Department Pickup truck.  The man suffered minor injuries.   Firefighters delayed extricating the man from the car because the dog was in the backseat.  A family member removed the pit bull clearing the way for crews to get him out of the car on a backboard.

Anonymous Call Leads Police To Stabbing Victim

An anonymous phone call about a "dead person" in a bathtub led Spokane Police to a home in North Spokane where they found a man who had been stabbed, but was still alive.

The call was made around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday. Officers responded and found the home in the 2500 block of North Hamilton.

When officers arrived they talked with someone inside the house that had no idea there was a problem at the residence. In the bathroom, however, police found a man with stab wounds.

He was transported to a hospital and is in critical condition.

Early Morning Garage Fire Considered Suspicious

Early Morning Garage Fire Considered Suspicious

A garage fire in Northeast Spokane is being called suspicious because nobody was home at the time the fire started.

The fire was called in around 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Crown and Pittsburgh.

When firefighters arrived they saw smoke coming from the garage. Fortunately, the fire did not spread to the home. Avista had to be called in to take down a power line because it was damaged in the fire.

Crews say nothing was inside the garage at the time of the fire and the home was unoccupied, which is why they think the fire is suspicious.
