Robbery Suspected Arrested For Crime 2 Days Later

It took two days and the powerful nose of a K-9 officer to track and arrest an armed robbery suspect that police say held up the M&K Market Saturday night.

The robbery happened at the M&K Market, located at Wellesley and Market, around 11 p.m. Saturday. Witnesses told police the suspect ran east from the market in a camouflage top, gloves, mask and was armed with a knife.

Officer Rob Boothe's K-9 tracked the suspect to an abandoned garage, but he was not found.

Swimming Passes Gone

Swimming Passes Gone

The long summer months really seem to drag on if you can't afford to do anything. That's why the Salvation Army is trying to keep kids busy by providing free swim passes. It gives children a chance to hit up one of Spokane's many public pools all summer long.

But tonight, the Salvation Army has already passed out all 1,000 seasonal passes. Families took advantage of the offer and swiped them up in just a week.

Spokane County Aquatic Facilities Open Next Week

Spokane County Aquatic Facilities Open Next Week

Both the Northside and Southside Aquatic Facilities for Spokane County are opening next week on Friday, June 17th. That means it's almost the start of summer. That's not until June 21st. Prices have been reduced this year. Admission fees for children ages 3-5 are now one dollar and children ages 6 and over are now four dollars.

Low-income families can apply for the "Make a Splash in a Kid's Life" program which distributes swim passes to children. That pass grants access to both the North and Southside Aquatic Facilities.

Record Cold Start To Thursday

Record Cold Start To Thursday

We've added another weather record to our growing list for 2011.  The morning low at Spokane International Airport  for June 9th was 39 degrees.  The previous record of 40 was set in 1999.  Records have been kept in Spokane since 1881.  Meanwhile, we have yet to hit our first official 80 degree (or higher) day in Spokane.  The record for the latest 80 degree reading is June 13th, and based on the 7-day outlook, that record is also in jeopardy.  Stay tuned....
