Before you read on though, I'd like to share who is responsible for my stem cell transplant journey. Her name was Starr Stutts. She was the most thoughtful, caring, incredible woman I have ever known.

Starr found me on Facebook over a year and a half ago, and we became instant friends. As we both battled Scleroderma, we were able to call and text each other day or night about our struggles and hopes and dreams of a healed future without Scleroderma. I believe it was this last April that Starr started encouraging me to explore the idea of a Stem Cell Transplant with Dr. Richard Burt in Chicago. Once she mentioned it and explained it to me, my mom and I were sold. We called right away and got a preliminary test date In July to determine my eligibility for the transplant. Dr. Burt said I was a perfect candidate. However, for Starr it turned out to be too late. Her heart wasn't strong enough to survive the transplant, and she died this last August 6th. She will forever be my angel and I will fight this disease in her honor.

Starr's friend and now mine, Lansea Kaiser, graciously contacted Rachel Mielke (from Saskatachewan, Canada) who is a jewelry designer from Hillberg & Berk. Lansea shared how one of her pieces had impacted her life. This specific H&B necklace has a very special meaning as Starr's mom, Hana, and Lansea renamed the H&B tag on this specific necklace to stand for "Hope & Believe" to remind everyone to have "hope" for others who are battling Scleroderma and to "believe" there is a greater purpose for which people fight to survive Scleroderma.

Rachel Mielke generously donated 10 necklaces to CureforCat to help me raise money for upcoming treatments and medial bills. Each necklace is $95.00, and Hillberg & Berk is giving 100% of the profits to CureforCat! Lansea Kaiser has 10 necklaces available (see attached picture). If interested, please private message Lansea on her Facebook, and she can arrange to send you the necklace in exchange for a $95.00 donation to CureforCat” (www.cureforcat.com). As limited amounts are available, she will send out necklaces in order of messages received. Who knows, maybe if we sell 10 right away they will donate more. :)
