Eagle Ridge 'Miracle' Home

Eagle Ridge 'Miracle' Home

A new Eagle Ridge home holds the power to change the lives of children. Sunday, everyone is invited to view the home where 100-percent of proceeds from the sale will go towards the Children's Miracle Network.

The home is located at 5501 South Ravencrest in Spokane's Eagle Ridge neighborhood. The house will be open to the public on Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. Members of the Spokane Shock team will be there for a meet-and-greet from noon to 2 p.m.

The home, designed as a rancher by Morse Western Homes, was upgraded to include three additional bedroom, a full bathroom and living area. The home is listed for $389,900 and is 3080 square feet.

Newland Communities, Condron Homes, Morse Western Homes and Homes by George Paras collaborated to make the Miracle Home possible.

“The generosity of the building industry has been overwhelming and because of that the proceeds from the three Miracle Home projects to date will total over $500,000 for the kids in the Inland Northwest,” said Kirsten Carlile, Children’s Miracle Network Director.

Water Rates: Back To The Drawing Board

Water Rates: Back To The Drawing Board

The City of Spokane is going to reopen the discussion about water rates after "significant public concern about high summer watering bills."  The city implemented a new, tiered-rate structure this year that charges increasing rates the more water you use.

It must have sounded good to city officials, but to citizens who recently received their summer water bills, well, not so much.

"We have had several hundred or more complaints from citizens who don't understand the rationale behind the amounts of their most recent water bills," says Council President Joe Shogan.

Tour regional community gardens this Saturday

Tour regional community gardens this Saturday

When garden space in your own home is limited, community gardens offer an option for neighbors to have a little patch of land to grow their favorite fruits and vegetables.

Community gardens scattered across Spokane will be open for a tour this Saturday with volunteers on hand to show visitors around and answer any questions they may have. 14 gardens, including two new gardens, are featured in this year's annual Spokane Community Garden Tour.

Keeping Cool and Saving Money

Keeping Cool and Saving Money

Every time I see both my AC units blasting at the same time I can't help but hear my bank account drain. So today I was on the hunt for the best energy-saving tips for the summer months that don't sacrifice your comfort.

I talked to Chris from Avista and Argyle from SNAP and also polled our viewers at the News@5 page.

My favorite tip? Bring all of your cooking outside. Grill everything.

Ripe for the Pickn'

Ripe for the Pickn'

The recent string of warmer temperatures has been just enough to ripen acres of Green Bluff strawberries.

Friday, July 1st at 7 a.m will mark the beginning of strawberry season with the Strawberry Festival on the bluff at Siemers Farm and Knapp's.

Traditionally, the festival is held in June but because of the wet weather the strawberries were no were near ripe.

But now you can load up on fresh, ripe, juicy berries for just 99 cents a pound.
