Icy roads to blame for North Spokane crash
News

One woman had to be extricated from her car following a crash early Friday morning in North Spokane.

The crash happened near Francis Avenue and Freya Street around 1 a.m.

According to Spokane County deputies, the driver of the car lost control and crashed into a pole near train tracks.

There were three people in the car at the time and when firefighters arrived, one of the passengers was trapped in the car.

She was extricated from the car and firefighters said no one was seriously hurt.

Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Von-Steuben said drivers need to be careful when the roads are slick like they were Friday morning.

"The road conditions are changing a lot," Von-Steuben said. "We've got some real treacherous roadways tonight."

Train traffic was stopped while crews extricated the woman and moved the car.
